Members of Egglescliffe and Eaglescliffe Council were saddened by the news of the death of Parish Councillor Alan Edward Marsden on 7th September in the Butterwick Hospice, following a short illness, aged 84.
Many people here will remember him as a language teacher at Egglesclffe School. In addition, he encouraged a lifelong interest in hockey among pupils there.
He had served as a councillor here for a relatively short time, having volunteered to be co-opted to fill a vacancy in Egglescliffe East Ward. He was one of the very few parish councillors in England who had experience of serving on a similar body in France.
The funeral service will be on 23rd September at 1.15 p.m. in Yarm Parish Church, followed by a private cremation service.
Family flowers only please by request, donations in lieu if so desired to Butterwick Hospice or St Mary Magdalene Church. Donations can be made and memories of Alan can be shared by visiting Alan’s online tribute page by using the following link, https://alan-edward-marsden.muchloved.com/
